Welcome to Maillards, Jersey’s only genuinely independent, family owned Funeral Service.
One of the most difficult and stressful times of our lives is when the death of someone close to us occurs. It is at this time that the professional services of an experienced funeral director who cares is required. We are here to gently help and advise you in whatever way we can, using experience gained over more than 90 years.
Arranging a funeral is a huge responsibility, with lots of decisions to be made. Taking control of your own wishes while you are able to do so reduce the stress and worry for those left behind, enabling you to have the send off you want, in the way you want it. It has the added benefit of enabling you to keep control of the costs.
There are many ways of pre-planning a funeral and the Maillards team are able to give advice every step of the way.
If you prefer, we can send them to you in the post, complete them over the phone or you come in and chat them through with us in person, over a cup of tea.
Once you’ve done this, we’ll send a copy for you and any additional copies you require for your solicitor, family member or friend. Having completed your Lasting Wishes with us, your family are under no legal obligation to use us to manage your funeral service, however we can of course be there to guide and support those left behind when you are gone.
If you wish, we can provide you with an indicative quote of how much your funeral would cost at this moment in time. You will then have an idea of how much you need to put to one side and if you so wish, you can pay us in monthly instalments. We offer pre-arranged funeral plans, so please speak to one of our funeral directors who will supply you with further details.
‘Pre-arranged’ – You can pre-arrange your funeral plan which gives you and your family peace of mind. At this stage, you would prepay the costs which we can detail for you in a quotation depending on your requirements. In return, we will guarantee to freeze the prices for our professional services’. Regretfully we cannot guarantee payments to third parties as the disbursement costs are out of our control.
To help towards the funeral costs, people in Jersey (provided that they made Social Security contributions) are entitled to a death grant. Currently this is £1,132.04 For more information, please click here.
