Welcome to Maillards, Jersey’s only genuinely independent, family owned Funeral Service.
One of the most difficult and stressful times of our lives is when the death of someone close to us occurs. It is at this time that the professional services of an experienced funeral director who cares is required. We are here to gently help and advise you in whatever way we can by using our experience gathered over more than 80 years.
Arranging a funeral is a huge responsibility, with lots of decisions to be made. Taking control of your own wishes while you are able to do so reduce the stress and worry for those left behind, enabling you to have the send off you want, in the way you want it. It has the added benefit of enabling you to keep control of the costs.
There are three ways of pre-planning a funeral and the Maillards team are able to give advice every step of the way.
If you prefer, we can send them to you in the post, complete them over the phone or you come in and chat them through with us in person, over a cup of tea.
Once you’ve done this, we’ll send a copy for you and any additional copies you require for your solicitor, family member or friend. Having completed your Lasting Wishes with us, you are under no obligation to use us as a funeral service however we can be there to guide and support those left behind when you are gone.
If you wish, we can provide you with an indicative quote of how much your funeral would cost at this moment in time. You will then have an idea of how much you need to put to one side and if you so wish, you can pay us in monthly instalments. We also offer pre-paid funeral plans, please speak to one of our funeral directors who will supply you with further details.
‘Pre-Paid’ – You can also pre-pay for your funeral plan which gives you and your family peace of mind. At this stage, you would prepay the costs which we can detail for you in a quotation depending on your requirements. In return, we will guarantee to freeze the prices for our professional services’. Regretfully we cannot guarantee payments to third parties – the disbursement costs which are out of our control.
To help towards the funeral costs, people in Jersey (provided that they made Social Security contributions) are entitled to a death grant. Currently this is £867.44. For more information, please click here.
We offer a large range of coffins to suit all budgets and preferences. Cremation and burial coffins in a variety of woods and alternative materials and finishes are available along with coffin interiors and gowns. Order of Service
The order of Service can be simply printed with your loved one’s photo, or be a more creative keepsake for your friends and family members.
Cards of Attendance
We understand that the day of the funeral will be a very emotional occasion and it may be difficult to remember who attends. We are able to offer you cards of attendance so that anyone who attends the service can leave their name and a message for you.
Maillard’s have two black Daimler hearses. Should your choice be a Victorian style ceremony we offer a very elegant Marston Horse Drawn hearse. Or for the motorbike lovers, we can arrange the use of a motorcycle and side car.
We pride ourselves on owning Jersey’s finest fleet of chauffeur driven Limousines for family and friends.
Urns and Scatter Tubes
Burying your loved one’s ashes, we have a selection of veneered or wicker caskets.
If you wish to scatter the ashes, we offer an eco-friendly embossed scatter tube in a range of themes, a modern alternative to traditional urns.
It is quite usual for people to want to keep a small token amount of their loved one’s ashes. They are presented to you in a velveteen pouch.
We also work with a local wood turner who produces beautifully hand turned mini urns if you would like a more permanent tribute.
Sometimes it can take months for a gravestone to be ordered and delivered. We have a range of crosses available as temporary grave markers until the headstone arrives.
